As Social Media Manager for Starling Bank, I created campaigns and content strategy, while curating and coordinating content for all major social platforms. I researched and developed new ideas, wrote copy for posts and app release notes, tracked and analysed data from content performance and created KPI’s to measure success of the channel.

  • Instagram following increased by 90%, Twitter following by 26%, Facebook by 13% and LinkedIn by 63%

  • Engagement across all platforms increased by 20%

  • Traffic to website from organic social increased by 70% and organic app downloads by 9%

Home and Away

As part of our travel themed campaign launched in February, the team created Home and Away campaign. We wanted to show existing and potential new customers the benefits of spending with Starling at home here in the UK and of using Starling as a travel card abroad.

My role: Created the campaign ideas with the marketing team, led content visual brief, wrote copy and created the branded hashtag, coordinate posting schedule

For the final season of Game of Thrones, we created a themed campaign to bring in new audiences while showing various app features.

My role: Created campaign ideas tying features to the show, brief creative design team, wrote copy, coordinate and publish content

For the month of March, we created the campaign for helping people to better manage their money by promoting tools in the app, which we called On The Money.

My role: Helped create campaign ideas, led the social content concepts and creation, organised publishing calendar, execution, analysed data, set KPI’s

International Womens Day

For International Women’s Day, Starling celebrated by hosting a breakfast for employees, a small panel talk with Starling Founder and CEO Anne Boden and discussed what this day means to us.

My role: I created the content strategy with the art director, wrote copy for all posts, coordinated and published content across all major channels on the day of, executing multiple posts to achieve the highest per day combined organic impressions

When Jason Maude, Chief Technology Advocate and host of the podcast was planning on releasing Series 4, I created a cohesive strategy with him and the design team to bring a strong social media presence to the podcast to drive listeners to the episodes and traffic to the website.

My role: Created content strategy, shoot portraits of the interviewees, brief the design team for the announcement animation video, create the quote assets, brief the web team for landing blog page, wrote copy for the social media posts, execution

Starling Blog

When I started my role I created new strategies to drive traffic to blog posts on the website. These included the graphic quote assets for the Instagram grid, engaging Instagram Stories, exciting copy for the posts across all channels, and the concept of using polls on Twitter to engage the audience with links to the blog post to drive traffic.

Travel with Teal

For our travel campaign we put paid boosting behind the assets across Facebook and Instagram with the goal of brand awareness and audience engagement.

My role: Created the target audience, boosted selected assets on Facebook and Instagram with allocated budget, tracked the performance, created report analysing data to assess the success of the overall boosted campaign

Audience Engagement

Starling Socks

During my time as Head of Inbound Social Engagement I noticed how popular the ‘Starling socks’ were with our audience. I created the concept to use content as ‘sock giveaway competitions’ and these became some of Starling’s most engaged posts across Twitter, Facebook and Instagram.

My role: Creative concept, wrote copy, coordinating content, scheduling and publishing

Anne Boden’s The Money Revolution

Anne’s book The Money Revolution, a guide to all things fintech and smart money management, launched on Amazon and shot to number one rankings across three categories, quickly selling out.

My role: I was responsible for leading the content strategy for organic social, execution across all social platforms, and creating content for organic social posts and paid social campaigns
